Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that “Digger” will be the title of its upcoming new comedy film from “Birdman” and “The Revenant” director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu.
It’s also seemingly the name of the lead character being played by Tom Cruise who appears in the teaser with a shovel, a very different hairstyle and some wild shorts as he dances around.
Cruise plays a powerful man trying to convince the world he’s its savior – before widespread destruction caused by the catastrophic consequences of his own actions.
Shot on 35mm VistaVision with Emmanuel Lubezki lensing, the film also stars Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, and Jesse Plemons.
Inarritu co-wrote the screenplay with Nicolás Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, the project marking his first English-language film in a decade.
“Digger” will screen only in cinemas in October. Check out the teaser and poster below.
