The first photo has been released from “Mercenary: An Extraction Series,” a TV series continuation of the Chris Hemsworth-led action film franchise on Netflix.
The eight-episode spin-off just got its official name with a photo showing a behind-the-scenes shot of series star Omar Sy (“Lupin”).
In the thriller, a mercenary embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya. Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, he must navigate life-or-death choices while confronting deep emotional wounds.
The series reportedly “explores the trauma, betrayal, and moral conflicts of characters pushed to the edge.” Production recently wrapped in Ireland and is now filming in Morocco.
Joining Sy are the likes of Boyd Holbrook, Natalie Dormer, Waleed Zuaiter, Ed Speleers, Sacha Dhawan, Ross McCall, Pip Torrens, Sam Woolf, Michael Zananiri, Riyad Sliman, Muhannad Ben Amor, Aaron Heffernan, Jojo Macari, Theo Ogundipe, and Emma Appleton.
The show is written and executive-produced by showrunner Glen Mazzara (“The Walking Dead”). Directors Louise Hooper (“The Sandman”) and Tim Southam (“One Piece”) helm four episodes each.
Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Scott Nemes, Chris Castaldi, Sam Hargrave, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin executive produce. The title hasn’t set a target date.
A South Korean spin-off movie, titled “TYGO” and starring both Don Lee and Lisa of Blackpink, is also in the works.
