Max has ordered a fifth season of its highly acclaimed adult animated series “Harley Quinn,” the order coming through two months after the fourth season wrapped its run.
Kaley Cuoco voices the title role whilst Lake Bell, Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, Tony Hale, Jason Alexander, J.B. Smoove, Briana Cuoco, Giancarlo Esposito, Harvey Guillén, Christopher Meloni and Jacob Tremblay also star.
The series sees Harley out on her own after breaking up with the Joker (Tudyk). With help from Poison Ivy (Bell) and a crew of DC castoffs, Harley tries to work her way into the Legion of Doom, before an identity crisis sends her on a larger quest to find her true place in Gotham City.
Executive producers Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey say in a statement:
“We’re thrilled that the news of Harley and Ivy’s continuing misadventures is finally out and we can stop telling people in secret. We must have handed out at least three thousand NDAs by now. It was a big waste of paper.”
Peter Girardi, executive vp alternative programming at Warner Bros. Animation, says the new season offers “our biggest swing yet” in terms of the show. Lorey serves as showrunner on the series which is expected to return next year.
