Point Break is one of those movies; it’s just awesome! You haven’t seen it in years, but you know it’s a kick ass movie. It’s so cool that if you search Point Break on the IMDb, it comes up first. Second is the 2015 remake. Does anyone remember that? It had Ray Winstone in it, anyone?

Well, as we know, in Hollywood, they have to regurgitate everything, so a Point Break series is in the works from AMC. According to Deadline, AMC won the rights to adapt the series after a big bidding war.

This new series is going to be set 35 years after the original movie (completely bypassing the 2015 version). There is a new gang who take part in dangerous heists, with connections to the original Ex-Presidents.

Dave Kalstein is developing the new Point Break series. He has written for series like NCIS: Los Angeles, Treadstone and Butterfly.

There is no news of the cast yet for the series, but I’m sure it will be announced in due time. I’m hoping Bodhi will be played by Leslie Jones, I haven’t seen her in ages.

The original movie’s plot is:

An F.B.I. Agent goes undercover to catch a gang of surfers who may be bank robbers.

It starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. Kathryn Bigelow was the director, with Rick King and W. Peter Illiff penning the script and story. It still holds up today, with great characters, a solid story, and an ending that everyone remembers.

Will the Point Break series end up like the 2015 remake?
