Netflix has acquired a pitch for a film adaptation of the upcoming action-strategy sandbox game “Kingmakers” which is being developed by 21 Laps and Story Kitchen.
Redemption Road Games developed and tinyBuild will publish the game which boasts massive, real-time simulated battles and is set in medieval Great Britain.
In the title, players go back in time to a war-torn era with a vast arsenal of modern weapons, change the course of history and save the future.
Christopher MacBride (“Flashback, “The Wolf”) is adapting the script with Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dmitri M Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg and Timothy L. Stevenson producing. MacBride previously did re-writes on the in development “Face/Off 2”.
The project marks one of several game adaptations from Story Kitchen in the works right now alongside Amazon’s new “Tomb Raider” live-action series, and a “Just Cause” film at Universal Pictures.
