Disney’s “Zootopia 2” has now overtaken the live-action “Lilo & Stitch” to become the highest-grossing film of 2025.
The title earned a further $26 million domestically in its third weekend to bring its domestic total up to $259 million, but overseas is where it continues to do gangbusters – taking in a further $131 million and bringing its overseas total up to $877.7 million with just over $500 million of that from China alone.
The end result is that it has now landed on $1.13 billion worldwide, pulling ahead of “Lilo & Stitch” at $1.03 billion. By the time it ends its run, the title looks like it’ll comfortably reach the $1.5 billion or so range.
“Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” plummeted 70% in its second weekend but still managed a solid gross of $19.5 million to now stand at a domestic total gross of $95.4 million. “Wicked for Good” is now cooling off, but still managing $8.55 million to bring its total to $312.1 million domestically and $468 million worldwide.
Indian film “Dhurandhar” was in fourth with $7.9 million in its second week, impressive numbers and ahead of “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” in fifth with $2.38 million.
James L. Brooks’ $35 million-budgeted dramedy “Ella McCay” not only scored disastrous reviews, but was a massive bomb – debuting in sixth place to just $2.1 million. The lowest start in modern times for a Disney title.
Horror remake “Silent Night, Deadly Night” also bombed with just $1.1 million, though the reviews were pretty good in its case. Re-releases of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “The Shining” came in 8th and 10th, respectively.
