28 Years Later was not a bad entry to the ‘28’ movies; see our review here. However, the last 10 minutes were odd. Young Spike runs into a gang of the kids from Village of the Damned, well, they are bad for the second part of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.

So the kids from the Village of the Damned are back, although the blonde hair is wigs. However, Dr Kelson is scary as always.

The Bone Temple stars Alife Williams, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Emma Laird, Erin Kellyman, Chi Lewis-Parry, Robert Rhodes, David Sterne, Maura Bird, Sam Locke and Ghazi Al Ruffia.

Nia DaCosta is directing, with Alex Garland writing. Danny Boyle directed the first instalment, 28 Years Later, so it was odd to switch to DaCosta. She’s the lady who gave us The Marvels and Candyman 2021. I saw Candyman, but couldn’t tell you a thing about it.

DaCosta has recently directed Hedda, based on Henrik Ibsen’s stage drama. The main cast member was Tessa Thompson, so I gave it a miss.

The story for 28 Days Later: The Bone Temple is:

As Spike is inducted into Jimmy Crystal’s gang on the mainland, Dr. Kelson makes a discovery that could alter the world.

I’m guessing O’Connell is playing Jimmy because he seems to enjoy the role of a ‘baddy’ in movies. For example, Eden Lake, Harry Brown, Starred Up, and Sinners. That’s a little unfair; he’s also done a number of nice roles.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will be in cinemas on the 16th of Jan 2026, which is only 6 weeks away!
