The titans of terror, well, Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele are producing a movie together, Portrait of God. It’s a new horror from Dylan Clark, who directed a short of the same name.
The story for Portrait of God is being kept under wraps, but the original short deals with the question ‘What does God look like?’…Morgan Freeman, according to Bruce Almighty.
There is a description from Deadline:
“Opening with a quote from the Old Testament — ‘No man shall see Me and live’ — it finds Mia sitting in the dark, practicing a slide presentation about a work of art dubbed ‘Portrait of God,’.”
“To some who view the painting, she says, it appears completely black. But others report seeing a person in the darkness — one who’s been described time and again, in consistent detail. Minimalistic yet menacing, the short offers a counterpoint to the idea of God as a benevolent entity. Viewers of the portrait, beware.”
Again, maybe watch Dogma to see Alanis Morissette as God. So far, there isn’t much cast for the movie yet, but the IMDb has Sébastien Vanicek, Marlon Wayans, and Tyriq Withers listed.
Portrait of God will be the first time Raimi and Peele have worked together. Raimi has a new movie coming out soon, Send Help, starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien.
Peele is supposed to be doing a follow-up to Nope, but it kept getting pushed back. In September, Universal pulled it from the schedule altogether.
There is no release date for Portrait of God yet, but if you want to see God, watch Oh, God! as he looks like George Burns.
