Warner Bros. Animation has announced “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie,” the first-ever fully animated “Looney Tunes” feature-length movie created for a theatrical release.
Porky Pig and Daffy Duck star as unlikely heroes and Earth’s only hope when facing the threat of alien invasion. In the sci-fi adventure buddy comedy, the heroes race to save the world and must enlist some help along the way.
The film will deliver the brand’s usual laugh-out-loud gags and vibrant visuals – all with an epic scale the franchise has never done before. GFM Animation will launch worldwide sales of the title at the American Film Market where it will share first-look footage.
Sam Register, president, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, says in a statement:
“Our artists have created an incredible Looney Tunes film that follows in the cinematic tradition of when audiences first fell in love with these characters. GFM Animation are the perfect partners to help us bring Porky and Daffy back to their rightful place on the big screen.”
Pete Browngardt directs the film which boasts the creative team behind the “Looney Tunes Cartoons” series that launched in 2020. The film is said to currently be at an advanced stage of production and will be delivered in the second quarter of next year.
