A posting on the Film & TV Industry Alliance website Production List (via WoR) has indicated that James Mangold’s “Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi” film will shoot next Fall.
The posting, which has NOT been confirmed, follows “House of Cards” creator Beau Willimon being hired to co-write the script with Mangold for the movie earlier this year.
Mangold is expected to focus on the new “Star Wars” film as his next project after the Timothee Chalamet-led “A Complete Unknown” hits cinemas this week.
Disney has set aside a release slot in December 2027 for a “Star Wars” film – if this is that movie it could well make it.
The movie is expected to explore the origins of the Jedi and will be set 25,000 years in the past.
The first “Star Wars” film to hit cinemas will be in May 2026 when “The Mandalorian & Grogu” arrives. There are multiple “Star Wars” films in development from a range of filmmakers including Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Donald Glover, Taika Waititi and Patty Jenkins
