The BBC’s acclaimed police thriller series “Line of Duty” may finally be getting a seventh season.

The Sun has reported that the show’s trio of key stars – Adrian Dunbar, Vicky McClure and Martin Compston – all met with creator Jed Mercurio last week.

The aim of that meeting? To sort out a deal and filming dates for a potential seventh season. An insider for the publication says while the four meet regularly, “this time it was different”.

They indicate the conversation was about working out schedules with the aim being to shoot the series next year and have it hit screens in early 2026 – arriving five years after the sixth season went to air.

The series is a massive ratings juggernaut in the UK, the sixth season had episodes pulling in overnight ratings of a size not seen for scripted drama since the late 2000s.

Earlier this year Compston indicated there were no immediate plans for more and admitted scheduling was the main issue as all three are busy with other projects.
