The first trailer has premiered for the indie film “Waltzing With Brando” directed by Bill Fishman.
Billy Zane plays Marlon Brando in a period in the early 1970s when he was preparing to star in both cinematic classic “The Godfather” and the controversial “Last Tango in Paris”.
The project is based on a memoir by the actor’s architect, Bernard Judge. Judge was an idealistic Los Angeles architect whom Brando convinced to build the world’s first ecologically perfect retreat on the tiny uninhabitable French Polynesian island of Tetiaroa.
The bulk of the film was actually shot on Tetiaroa with Jon Heder co-starring as Judge while Tia Carrere, Richard Dreyfuss, Alaina Huffman, Camille Razat, Sofia Masson, Rob Corddry and David Gueriera co-star.
“Waltzing With Brando” will serve as the closing film of Italy’s Torino Film Festival which is celebrating the centennial of Marlon Brando’s birth with a 24-title film retrospective.
Ron Howard’s survival thriller “Eden,” starring Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby and Sydney Sweeney, will open the fest.
