Just over a week ago came a report that “The Harder They Fall” and “The Book of Clarence” director Jeymes Samuel met with Marvel Studios about a potential job directing the “Blade” film.

Were it true he would replace Yann Demange, who exited the project months ago with the film seeking a helmer ever since. The film it still aiming to open in November next year so whomever comes onboard needs to get working on the film fast.

Eric Pearson has been the latest writer on the project, and it seems his draft has finally satisfied those involved after failed attempts by Michael Green, Beau DeMayo and Nic Pizzolatto among others.

The trouble with the recent directing rumor though – it’s not true. Samuel has taken to social media to shoot down the talk, even as he says he loves the franchise. In his post on X, he says:

“I don’t know where these rumors start, but I am not in talks to do Blade with Marvel. I love me the Daywalker tho, I cannot wait to watch that joint. Sidebar: When Blade 2 came out I prayed they would make: ‘WESLEY SNIPES/CHRISTOPHER LEE – BLADE III’. It didn’t happen sadly.”

As Samuel, also known as hip hop artist The Bullitts, isn’t involved it begs the question as to whom will take over the project and what sort of further delays the project will undergo? It’s a wait and see for now.
