By Earlier this month came the news that Josh Brolin had passed on an offer to star as Hal Jordan in the upcoming “Lanterns” TV series from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television.
Brolin was being sought to play the cocky Hal Jordan, previously played by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 box-office bomb, for what was to be a different take on the character.
The series sees an older 50-something Hal Jordan and a young version of fellow Green Lantern John Stewart investigating an Earth-bound murder with larger implications in a series with a gritty “True Detective”-style tone.
After passing, several other reportedly also turned down the gig with “Friday Night Lights” star Kyle Chandler ultimately snagging it. Speaking to ComicBook.com about his new movie “Brothers” co-starring Peter Dinklage,” Brolin addressed “Lanterns” and says he’s still open to work with DC:
“You know what? Green Lantern didn’t work out, but that’s okay. It’s working out. Who is it going to be, Kyle Chandler? I love him as an actor, I think he’s wonderful, actually. And, you know, we’ll see what’s down the line, man.”
Chris Mundy (“Ozark”) serves as showrunner on the eight-episode series and will co-write with “Watchmen” and “Lost” producer Damon Lindelof and author Tom King.
Casting is continuing with filming to take place across the first half of 2025 in Atlanta.
