Netflix is in talks with BuzzFeed to air several live versions of the popular Sean Evans-hosted YouTube talk series “Hot Ones” reports Buzzfeed.
The YouTube videos put celebrities in the hot seat, forcing them to answer questions while eating increasingly spicy chicken wings. Some guests are mildly flustered, others really struggle.
This deal will be for live episodes created specifically for the streamer. No deals are yet in place as negotiations are in very early stages and could still fall apart.
The YouTube channel, owned by Buzzfeed, is one of YouTube’s most-watched programs and has become a regular stop on celebrity press tours whilst promoting work.
Actors ranging from Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence to Will Smith, Paul Rudd, Margot Robbie, Pedro Pascal, Tom Holland and more have participated.
Netflix has had mixed success with live events – but had a recent hit with John Mulaney’s “Everybody’s in L.A.” talk show and will soon be getting into live wrestling programming and NFL games.
