The musical group Sparks, who teamed with Leos Carax on “Annette,” look to be doing the same again – this time with legendary Hong Kong action director John Woo.

Sparks posted a picture alongside Woo captioned “Legendary filmmaker John Woo + Spark = ?????” which has set off a boatload of speculation. Woo is coming off his “The Killer” remake which recently premiered on Netflix. [Source: X]

Lazy Susans
Amy Adams has closed a deal to produce and star in the new comedy film “Lazy Susans” at 20th Century Studios. Stacy O’Neil, Vivek J. Tiwary and Jack Leslie will also produce, no director is attached.

Annie Mumolo (“Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar”) and Stan Chervin (“Moneyball”) have been tapped to script the film about a group of moms who form a rock band. [Source: Deadline]

Uzumaki
Adult Swim has released the full trailer for the four-episode anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s iconic body horror manga masterpiece “Uzumaki” which launches September 28th.

The three-volume original manga is set in a town that falls under the effects of a supernatural curse involving spirals which begin appearing first in the elements from the sky to the water, and then to in people’s own flesh as madness quickly takes hold.

Nickel Boys
The first trailer has arrived for RaMell Ross’ “Nickel Boys” following the film’s premiere at Telluride. Ethan Herisse, Brandon Wilson, Hamish Linklater, Fred Hechinger, Daveed Diggs, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor star.

Based on Colson Whitehead‘s 2020 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, it chronicles the powerful friendship between two young Black teenager as they navigate a reform school together in 1960s Florida. The film hits select theaters on October 25th.

Caddo Lake
Max has released the official trailer for its M. Night Shyamalan-produced mystery thriller feature “Caddo Lake” which will debut on the streamer on October 10th. The story is written and directed by Celine Held and Logan George.

When an eight-year-old girl mysteriously vanishes, a series of past deaths and disappearances start to link together, forever altering a broken family’s history. Dylan O’Brien, Eliza Scanlen, Diana Hopper, Caroline Falk, Sam Hennings. Eric Lange and Lauren Ambrose co-star.
