By “Game of Thrones” author and franchise creator George R.R. Martin has suggested he’s shortly going to be doing a ‘tell all’ post about HBO’s spin-off series “House of the Dragon”.
In a posting today on his blog about the Santa Fe festival, Martin cryptically teased: “I do not look forward to other posts I need to write, about everything that’s gone wrong with HOUSE OF THE DRAGON… but I need to do that too, and I will. Not today, though.”
He adds he’s had a “pretty wretched year as well, one full of stress, anger, conflict, and defeat. I need to talk about some of that, and I will.”
Martin co-created the hit series and has been quite public in his support of the HBO series, even when they made creative choices he wasn’t thrilled about. ‘Dragon’ he was praising through the recent season’s fourth episode, saying it contained the best dragon battle put to screen.
Nonetheless the season has come under criticism from fans for being truncated, halting right before a giant battle was about to begin due to a cost-cutting measure by the network. Others have taken issue with its dour tone and lack of involvement of the main trio (Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith) in the action.
What Martin’s issues are with the show is presently unclear, beyond having stated in the past a need for more episodes – even as the show has set an end with the fourth season to be its last.
