We’ve mentioned Francis Ford Collopa’s Megalopolis before and we’re looking forward to it. They have started advertising, mostly by word of mouth on social media.

The movie is classed as independent and they have had to take on all the advertising themselves. No millions of dollars to spend on shills with blue ticks to say how good it is. They are relying on the good ol’ fashion public to spread the word.

I’m not on Twitter anymore, but I should get back on it. There could be a quote from the LMO on the poster:

“I saw this movie in the cinema” – Boba Phil – The Last Movie Outpost

You never know, they usually quote crap from places like The Guardian. There is a new poster for the movie as well.

I like the tagline “If you can’t see a better future, build one.”  I wonder if there are going to be any subtle pops at the state of Hollywood at the moment. Especially as it doesn’t seem to have any Hollywood money behind it.

Reviews at the moment, are mixed. According to David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter, he says of Megalopolis:

“It’s windy and overstuffed, frequently baffling and way too talky…often amusing, playful, visually stunning, and illuminated by a touching hope for humanity.”

Damon Wise from Deadline says:

“Megalopolis is something of a mess; unruly, exaggerated, and drawn to pretention like a moth to a flame…a pretty stunning achievement, and the work of a master artist.”

At least you know you’ll get an honest review from the Last Movie Outpost, mainly because we’re never been offered a handout for a review. If you gave me a KitKat, I would say The Acolyte is the best thing ever.

Megalopolis is in theatres on 27th September.
