Crawl was great fun. Up there with recent creature features like Piranha 3D. It told the story of a young woman visiting a Florida coastal community being hit by a tropical hurricane to try and check in on her father.
She finds herself trapped with her injured dad in a slowly flooding house with at least two hungry alligators. Quentin Tarantino put it on his list of the best movies of 2019.
After it made big profits for Paramount, they pressed the go button on a sequel. Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan (Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, Project Almanac) are writing the script with original director Alexandre Aja returning.
Craig Flores and Sam Raimi also return as producers.
Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper are not expected to return, and the movie will have a new cast and relocate the action to New York. An alligator in the city? This all sounds terribly familiar.
Now that I think about it, we should talk more about how awesome Alligator is. Let’s have that conversation.
