Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige suggest that, like with “Deadpool & Wolverine,” it’s likely the studio’s upcoming “Blade” film will be rated R.
Talking to BlackTree TV, Feige says keeping the new “Deadpool” movie R-rated was the only way to maintain the character’s essence.
He then acknowledged that the same is likely true regarding “Blade” before teasing an R-rating for the film:
“There were some great Blade movies years ago – they were all rated R. So I think that’s, like Deadpool, inherent with the character of Blade.”
The film was first officially acknowledged in July 2019 with Mahershala Ali’s appearance in person at San Diego Comic Con at that year’s Marvel panel.
Since then though, the film has made multiple headlines due to numerous production issues and delays – five years on and it still hasn’t done a single day of shooting yet.
Feige commented on the delays, acknowledging it’s about getting things right but not offering any update in terms of actual progress:
“For the last two years, as we’ve been trying to crack that movie, the most important thing for us is not rushing it and making sure we are making the right Blade movie.”
For now, the “Blade” reboot is currently scheduled to hit theatres on November 7th 2025.
