With Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool and Wolverine” screening over the next few days for media and preview audiences, spoilers for the film are likely to spread online fast including the numerous cameos in the movie.
Ahead of that though, star Ryan Reynolds has publicly discussed two cameos that are NOT in the movie – namely he confirms neither singing industry giant Taylor Swift or filmmaker/comedian Jordan Peele will appear in the film.
Speaking with E! News, Reynolds wanted to clear up the rumors of Taylor Swift appearing saying: “I will say once and for all that the cameo thing with Taylor – because she’s our friend – that is not in this film.”
He then goes on to say he sees her as a good replacement if he ever leaves the part: “If anyone ever were to take over the role of Deadpool, actually Taylor would be very good,” calling her “one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.”
Reynolds also tells Screen Rant that “one of the first people that were offered a role we were trying to work with desperately was Jordan Peele,” adding he’s an enormous fan and calling him “one of the great underrated performers”.
Peele didn’t join the fun, but Reynolds says: “he’s somebody that I still, to this day, would love to find some way to team up with. I don’t even care what he would play, but I would love to work with him.”
Separately in an interview with GamesRadar, executive producer Wendy Jacobson spoke about the overall nature of the film’s cameos and suggests a good portion of the rumors online were planted there deliberately: “there may or may not have been some subterfuge and misdirections on the internet or in-person in order to protect the secrecy.”
