By Euro Gang Entertainment has announced plans for a remake of the iconic Sergio Leone western classic “A Fistful Of Dollars”.
The project is being produced by Euro Gang chiefs Gianni Nunnari (“300,” “The Departed”) and Simon Horsman (“Magazine Dreamsm,” “Legacy: The True Story Of The LA Lakers”) along with Enzo Sisti (“The Talented Mr. Ripley,” “The English Patient”) at FPC, and Jolly Film which produced the original film decades ago.
Released in the mid-1960s, the film was effectively an unofficial remake of Akira Kurosawa’s iconic Japanese classic “Yojimbo”. the Clint Eastwood-led film kick started a trilogy of films – the others being “For a Few Dollars More” and “The Good the Bad and the Ugly”.
All three films are considered cinematic classics and signature works in the spaghetti western sub-genre. ‘Fistful’ followed a wandering gunfighter with no name who plays two rival families against each other in a town torn apart by greed, pride, and revenge.
The project is in early development so specifics are under wraps. It’s expected to be English-language, but that hasn’t been confirmed as yet.
Euro Gang and Sisti most recently collaborated on Roland Emmerich’s upcoming gladiator TV series “Those About To Die” launching later this month.
