A potential sequel to 2006 classic “The Devil Wears Prada” appears to be in early development at Disney.

The 20th Century Fox film was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 roman à clef about working for Vogue editor Anna Wintour at the height of the magazine business.

Puck News is reporting that Oscar-winning producer Wendy Finerman has convinced actresses Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt to sign on for a sequel.

The outlet adds that Disney has given Finerman the okay to hire the original film’s screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, now that Streep is in.

Streep starred as the Wintour-esque antagonist Miranda Priestly in the original film, alongside Blunt as her long-suffering personal assistant Emily Charlton.

The storyline would see Priestly at the end of her career, facing the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She’s forced to go head-to-head with former assistant Emily who is now a high-powered executive at a luxury group, a group whose advertising dollars Priestly desperately needs.

The news comes as Elton John’s stage musical adaptation of the first film has begun previews in Plymouth, England, in advance of a West End opening in October. That version will star Vanessa Williams as Priestly.
