A piece today in THR speaks with some of the top entertainment lawyers in Hollywood at present, and with it came little updates about various film projects.
But perhaps the most interesting quote wasn’t so much news as rather the craziness surrounding Marvel Studios’ “Blade” reboot which just lost another director this week as Yann Demange exited the film.
That project has seen countless writers come and go and at least two directors now. It’s still set for a late 2025 release at present, even though nothing has been shot yet and it’s now desperately seeking someone who can steer the ship properly.
The one solid fixture is actor Mahershala Ali who has been attached to star in the movie since 2019. Ali’s attorney, Shelby Weiser, briefly discussed what’s going on there.
In short, she’s as baffled as the rest of us regarding what’s going on: “That deal was in 2019, and they still haven’t shot it, which is pretty much the craziest thing in my professional experience.”
At last report, Marvel veteran Eric Pearson (“Black Widow”) has become the latest writer to work on the script.
