Apple TV+ has premiered the first photo from “Time Bandits,” the new TV series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s iconic 1981 fantasy film.

The project was first announced back in 2018 and hails from “What We Do in the Shadows” co-creators Taika Waitita, Jemaine Clement, and Iain Morris and has set a July 24th premiere date reports EW.

The ten-episode series will follow an 11-year-old history geek named Kevin (Kal-El Tuck) as he journeys through the centuries with a ragtag group of thieves led by Lisa Kudrow’s Penelope.

The cast includes Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Rune Temte, Kiera Thompson, Rachel House, Matt King, George Houvardas, Zoe Ventoura, and Charlyne Yi.

The original film was famed for its chaotic tone and a number of high profile cameos and supporting roles with the likes of John Cleese, Sean Connery, Michael Palin, Shelley Duvall, Ian Holm and David Warner all having roles.

Grossing $36 million on a budget of $5 million, the film was the first of three notable darkly comedic wild films by Gilliam around that period – the other two being “Brazil” and “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen”.
