Reliable datamining scooper billbil-kun (via VGC) reports that a PC edition of PS5 exclusive “God of War Ragnarök” is expected to be announced imminently.
Sony is reportedly planning to hold a PlayStation product showcase later this month with several announcements expected like a launch date for the “Silent Hill 2” remake. A ‘Ragnarök’ announcement would likely come then.
The game launched on the PS5 in November last year – selling 5.1 million copies in its first week and 11 million in its first two months – the fastest selling first-party title ever at the time. By the end of its first year it had sold over 15 million units.
The talk comes after PlayStation chairman Hiroki Totoki said back in February they plan to be more aggressive in terms of bringing first-party games to PC.
The news is not unexpected as a two-year window seems to be the rough estimate for new PS5-to-PC titles with “Horizon: Forbidden West” hitting PS5 in early 2022 and arriving on PC the other month.
Assuming ‘Ragnarok’ arrives in the Fall, it will fit that two year delay. It would also suggest we shouldn’t expect “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” to arrive on PC until late 2025.
Other titles have taken longer, such as “Ghost of Tsushima” which finally hits PC next week four years after its PS4 launch.
Still to be announced for PC are “The Last of Us Part II,” “Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth,” “Gran Turismo 7,” “Demon’s Souls,” “Stellar Blade” and older PS4 titles like “Bloodborne,” “Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection,” “Shadow of the Colossus,” and “Infamous: Second Son” among others.
