It’s going to be a “mega” experience as Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment releases the official second trailer for their upcoming sequel Despicable Me 4. View trailer below.
Following the 2022 summer blockbuster phenomenon of Illumination’s Minions: The Rise of Gru, which earned almost $1 billion worldwide, the biggest global animated franchise in history now begins a new chapter as Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carrell) and Lucy (Oscar® nominee Kristen Wiig) and their girls —Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Madison Polan)—welcome a new member to the Gru family, Gru Jr., who is intent on tormenting his dad. Gru faces a new nemesis in Maxime Le Mal (Emmy winner Will Ferrell) and his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina (Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara), and the family is forced to go on the run.
Hmmmm….I don’t know about this trailer. Judging from this trailer alone, this new preview acts more like a “teaser” for the upcoming Despicable Me sequel than a second trailer. What do I mean? Well, it really doesn’t show much of the plot, which the previous trailer showcases more of, and actually highlights more of the Minions characters than Gru and his family. It definitely looks amusing and fun, but doesn’t really shine a light on the overall plot than what was previously shown. I am still interested in seeing this movie when it comes out during the summer, but this new trailer does little excitement beyond a few snippets.
Despicable Me 4 opens in theaters on July 3rd, 2024
