A new preview by GamePro has confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel “Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga” will run at 30fps only on Xbox Series X/S according to GamePro.
The game will reportedly sport dynamic resolution throughout to maintain 30fps, with no graphics modes to choose from ala PS5’s resolution (4K/30fps) & performance (1080p-1440p/60fps) modes. Those wanting a higher frame rate will have to play the title on a high-end PC.
The game’s visual effects director Mark Slater-Tunstill tells the site that the decision should make the experience feel more “cinematic”.
This follows in the wake of “Starfield” and “Redfall,” last year’s major first-party Xbox Series X/S exclusives which were locked to 30fps on the console.
Understandably social media is having a field day with the news, with the Sony vs. Microsoft fanboy tribalism alive and well.
Announced five years ago, the game is finally set for release on May 21st. It is tipped to be a digital-only title and will have a campaign that clocks in at around eight hours.
Xbox has also confirmed that Tameem Antoniades, who co-founded Ninja Theory and served as its chief creative director, has left the studio.
