Though filming on the project officially wrapped at the end of last year, actor Tom Holland has revealed that he recently did some additional filming for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”.
In a new interview with GQ to promote his work with fitness brand Vuori, Holland confirmed that he shot additional scenes for his highly anticipated fourth “Spider-Man” film in the UK.
Specifically, it appears the new scenes were more about adding some comedy and beefing up a villain subplot:
“I can positively say that the stuff we’re doing, we don’t need. The movie works and sings as it is. We’re just adding the icing on the cake in certain areas. We’re finding some ways to add a little bit more humour. We’re layering in a villain plotline in a new way and some really fun stuff.”
News of the extra filming follows the film’s trailer, which arrived last month and became the first in history to cross a billion views.
The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed film will see Holland’s Peter Parker reuniting with Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and meeting Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher, along with dealing with a number of villains such as Michael Mando’s Scorpion and the return of The Hand.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” opens July 31st.
