Out promoting his more dramatic role in “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” on Apple TV shortly, former “Parks and Recreation” regular Nick Offerman seems to have revealed a new gig.
Speaking with THR, the Emmy winner talked about how he prepares for roles these days, when he said: “Even now as we speak, I’m preparing to go work on a movie with Alex Garland for which I have some intense voice work and physical work to do.”
“Ex Machina” and “Annihilation” writer/director Garland, who also penned the “28 Years Later” films and “Dredd,” is currently only occupied with one project – A24’s film adaptation of 2022’s Game of the Year winner “Elden Ring”.
The game is set in a world called The Lands Between. Players take on the role of one of the Tarnished, individuals whose ancestors were exiled years ago. When the Elden Ring is shattered, they get the chance to return and conquer the land they were once banished from.
Created in collaboration with “Game of Thrones” author George R. R. Martin, the game was a massive hit and reportedly shipped over 30 million copies since its launch. The film adaptation has been in the midst of pre-production in the UK with cameras reportedly set to roll in the next few days.
Offerman joins a cast that includes Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw and Cailee Spaeny. Offerman previously worked with Garland on his TV series “Devs” and on the film “Civil War”. He won an Emmy for his work in another game-to-screen adaptation – HBO’s “The Last of Us”.
