“Wednesday,” “Scream” and “Beetlejuice 2” actress Jenna Ortega has reportedly been offered the female lead role in the new “Gremlins” film.
The report originates from scooper DanielRPK with no further details other than the offer and talks. At present, no other actors are attached to the project.
In November, Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed plans to revive the dark comedy creature franchise with a third film and had already set a November 19th 2027 release.
The original film’s writer, Chris Columbus, will produce and direct the film with scripting duties going to “Final Destination: Bloodlines” duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who will work with Columbus.
Steven Spielberg is back on board as executive producer via his Amblin Entertainment label. Columbus, Kristie Macosko Krieger, Holly Bario, Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe produce.
Warners had been gauging interest in the property via the animated series “Secrets of the Mogwai” which launched in 2023.
