Following last week’s confirmation that Mike Colter and Finn Jones are returning as Luke Cage and Iron Fist for the third season of “Daredevil: Born Again,” rumours about the nature of their return have emerged.

In recent days, photos and videos have shown the pair interacting with Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones on the street, but no sign of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock.

Scooper MyTimeToShineH (via CBM) is reporting that when Season 3 begins, the focus will be on the trio protecting New York in the wake of Daredevil’s absence. This scooper also claims “they’re setting up spinoffs for the Defenders”.

Showrunner Dario Scardapane has previously made it clear that the Wilson Fisk-as-Mayor storyline comes to a close with the second season, and the finale will set up quite a different third season.

The “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” teaser trailer showed that after the second season of ‘Born Again’, the MCU’s New York will see a new mayor and the re-emergence of The Hand – now in more comic-accurate costumes.

Speculation is high that the third season will start off with both Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk in prison, which would explain why the other Defenders are out there protecting New York City.

Speaking of prisons, a behind-the-scenes featurette is out on the making of the prison break fight scene in the recently aired third episode of the second season. Check that out below.

The second season of ‘Born Again’ runs through to May 5th followed by “The Punisher: One Last Kill” special on May 12th.
