
Dennis Quaid has scored a role in the upcoming NASCAR-focused drama series “Thunder Road” at AMC.
The story follows a multi-generational family rooted in the sport and shooting begins this Summer.
Quaid plays Duane ‘The Wrecking Ball’ Whitlock, a legendary Southern blue-collar driver who built a racing empire from moonshine runs and dirt tracks – and refuses to let it die.
However, his is a dynasty facing extinction as he fights to preserve his family’s legacy and place in the sport. The rest of the cast are expected to be announced at a later date.
The project is being developed in association with NASCAR, the first time the organisation has collaborated on a long-form scripted drama series created by John Fusco and showrun by Taylor Elmore.
Cliff Roberts, Mark L. Smith, Tim Clark and John Dahl executive produce.
