It’s official, Spyglass is moving forward with an eighth installment of the “Scream” franchise with Lilla and Nora Zuckerman being hired to pen the script reports Deadline.
The Zuckerman sisters recently served as showrunners for the Rian Johnson-executive produced Peacock series “Poker Face” and worked as writers and co-executive producers on shows like “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Suits” and “Fringe”.
They also penned the pilot for Hulu’s proposed “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” revamp, a pilot that Chloe Zhao directed and was shot last year, but ultimately rejected by the streamer.
The news follows on from “Scream 7,” which saw the return of the franchise’s original scribe, Kevin Williamson, who not only penned but also directed the seventh entry.
Despite the worst reviews of the franchise, it was also the highest-grossing – taking in over $200 million at the global box-office. The title launched on digital platforms this week, 31 days after its release in cinemas.
No word as yet on which characters the eighth entry in the series will focus on.
