Production has officially begun on the third (and likely final) season of HBO’s “The Last of Us” with the first set photos and video emerging online via Canadagraphs.

All of them show off scenes being shot involving what will be the two main characters of the new season – returnee Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby and “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” actress Kyriana Kratter’s Lev – as the show’s narrative switches to Abby’s perspective for ‘Seattle Days 1-3’.

What’s glimpsed is presumably a sequence from the start of Day 2, the precursor to one of the most famous set pieces in the game – the skybridge. Said sequence had the briefest of teases in a shot early in the second season finale.

The new season also sees Michelle Mao joining as Lev’s sister Yara, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. replacing Danny Ramirez as Manny, Patrick Wilson in an undisclosed role (likely Abby’s father), Jason Ritter as a WLF soldier and Clea DuVall as an unnamed Seraphite.

They join other returnees like Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Jeffrey Wright, Bella Ramsey, Isabela Merced, and Gabriel Luna. Craig Mazin serves as sole showrunner for the third season.

HBO is expected to air the season sometime in 2027. Photos from the shoot are up at X, while video can be seen below.
