Mario (Chris Pratt), Luigi (Charlie Day), Yoshi (Donald Glover), and Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) venture to a new galaxy to save the day. Along the way they meet a cast of characters including Fox McCloud (Glen Powell), and must keep Bowser (Jack Black), in check to save the day.
The movie moves from one colorful locale to another but includes plenty of laughs along the way as well as numerous game references that fans will love but are not necessary to understand in order to enjoy the film.
For me the movie had a more effective plot and pacing than the first film as it moved along well and did not overly draw out the scenes. The cast and animation carried the day, and the addition of the new characters was a welcome addition as they blended into the ensemble well.
Yoshi practically stole the show as he was a very enjoyable addition to the cast, and I loved seeing Fox McCloud arrive as hopefully we will be seeing a new Starfox game in the future.
The film contains a mid and post credit scene that you will not want to miss but I had a blast from start to finish.
The film is ideal for all ages and will make a great family outing and I expect that we will be seeing a new Nintendo adventure in a few years’ time as this one is going to be huge.
