Apple TV and Sony Pictures Television have officially announced that its award-winning and highly acclaimed space drama series “For All Mankind” has been renewed for a sixth and final season.
News of the order comes just days ahead of the show’s ten-episode fifth season premiere, which kicks off on March 27th and runs through until May 29th. The same day as the finale, the new spin-off series “Star City” premieres.
Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi created the alternate history space race-themed series, with Wolpert and Nedivi saying in a statement: “Getting to explore the For All Mankind universe over six seasons has been an amazing privilege, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to finish the story the way we’ve always hoped.”
Launched in 2019, the series has been consistently lauded as one of the best shows, and certainly one of the most underappreciated series currently on television.
The upcoming fifth season, the story picks up in the 2010s, years after the Goldilocks asteroid heist. Happy Valley has grown into a thriving colony with thousands of residents and a base for new missions that will take us even further into the solar system.
But with the nations of Earth now demanding law and order on the Red Planet, friction continues to build between the people who live on Mars and their former home. Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña, Mireille Enos and Wrenn Schmidt star.
