Over half a decade ago, as the world began to close down for COVID, I remember reflecting that the last movie I had gone to a theater to watch was The Rise Of Skywalker, and what an absolutely piss poor outlook it would be for me if that turned out to be the last movie I ever saw in a movie theater. Thankfully, it wasn’t, but that still means it has been more than half a decade since Disney’s glorious Star Wars revolution came to a spluttering halt.
Can The Mandalorian & Grogu arrest this?
Well… it does kinda look like fun. Wait. What am I saying? They always do this! This is how they hurt us again and again.
Anyway, a new TV spot for The Mandalorian and Grogu has gone online and it shows a few more cool shots, a laugh or two, and a better loo inside an AT-AT. There are also some character reveals that the internet says are important, but I am so behind on modern Star Wars lore that I couldn’t tell you what they are or why. Something to do with The Clone Wars TV series, apparently.
There are also a load of images making their way around online on what look wonderfully like lobby cards. God, I miss lobby cards. Back in the day, they were the only way to get a really early look at movies outside of Starlog and the trailers in theaters. Anyway…
As part of the special feature in Empire, director Jon Favreau and actor Pedro Pascal confirmed the helmet will be off quite a lot in the movie, and for reasons that will make sense. Favreau said:
“You’ll see [Pedro] in the armour, both with and without the helmet. He’s a pretty physical performer. So we pushed a little further than we have in the past, as far as what he’s doing, helmet-off.”
The article also confirmed that the film takes place at a time when, defeated at Endor, remnants of the Imperials act like warlords, scattered throughout the galaxy and challenging the fledgling New Republic. The Republic enlists the help of the legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter for a special mission.
Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White co-star in The Mandalorian & Grogu, which opens in cinemas on May 22nd.
