Oscar nominee Kirsten Dunst will join Sydney Sweeney in “The Housemaid’s Secret,” a sequel to Paul Feig’s recent global smash hit “The Housemaid”.

Feig will return as director for the new installment, as will screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine and producers Feig, Sweeney, Todd Lieberman and Laura Fischer.

In “The Housemaid’s Secret,” Millie Calloway (Sweeney) returns and takes a job keeping home at the penthouse of a wealthy New York couple. Millie is not allowed to see her new employer, Mrs. Garrick, which immediately makes her suspicious.

She soon discovers the truth behind a locked door that threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own.

The film will be based on the second novel in Freida McFadden’s trilogy. The new project follows in the wake of the first film taking in nearly $400 million worldwide and proving to have incredible staying power at the box-office.

Lionsgate president Erin Westerman says in a statement: “It is a privilege to bring The Housemaid’s next chapter to the screen with Kirsten Dunst. She is an icon. Her career reflects extraordinary range and fearlessness. Opposite the ever-magnetic Sydney Sweeney, she will be an electrifying force in a world where nothing is ever quite as it seems.”
