The Weight
Padraic McKinley’s Sundance entry, the Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe-led “The Weight,” has been acquired by Vertical Entertainment. Plans are for a wide theatrical release on September 18th. The film scored very good reviews at the fest.

The 1930s Oregon-set tale follows Hawke as a widower serving a prison sentence. Crowe plays the warden who offers him and several others the opportunity to earn their freedom in exchange for partaking in a dangerous gold-smuggling operation for him. [Source: World of Reel]

The Daniels
“Everything Everywhere All at Once” filmmakers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert have indicated they plan to film their next film this Summer ahead of a November 2027 release. The project is a “sci-fi, action comedy with a big heart” and “very existential,” no further details beyond that. [Source: Collider]

Streaming Dates
Streaming date announcements starting with Netflix targeting an August release for David Fincher’s “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” film starring Brad Pitt and penned by Quentin Tarantino.

On the PVOD front, Sam Raimi’s “Send Help” and Sony Animation’s “Goat” will both arrive this coming Tuesday March 24th; while “Pillion” and “Scream 7” are rumored to arrive on March 31st.

On the SVOD front, Justin Lin’s “Last Days” is now up on Prime Video, “Primate” hits Paramount+ on March 25th, “Clika” and “28 Days Later: The Bone Temple” arrive on Netflix on March 31st, “The Housemaid” hits Starz on April 1st, “Marty Supreme” will hit HBO Max and “No Other Choice” will hit Hulu both on April 24th. Test Drive
Paul Greengrass (“The Bourne Supremacy,” “Captain Phillips”) will direct the thriller “Test Drive” at 20th Century Studios. Matt Venne penned the original high-concept action spec script with plot details under wraps. Safehouse Pictures is backing the project. [Source: Deadline]
