Here it is! Denis Villeneuve’s final foray to Arrakis before he starts work proper on the new James Bond adventure. The first trailer for Dune Part Three has just been released.
Also released are the first character posters from the movie, showing Robert Pattinson’s character for the first time.
Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel Dune Messiah takes place 12 years after the events of the first book. If Denis Villeneuve’s third film follows Dune Messiah closely, it will jump forward 12 years from the end of Part Two.
Paul “Muad’Dib” Atreides has ruled as Emperor since then. By accepting the role of messiah to the Fremen, he has unleashed a jihad which has conquered most of the known universe, but is powerless to stop the lethal excesses of the religious juggernaut he has created, and 61 billion people have perished.
The instalment brings the story of Paul to a close, so it makes a natural franchise capper.
Principal photography Dune: Part Three began on July 7, 2025, with the film scheduled to be released in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures on December 18, 2026.
