It’s time to gather in the great halls, dear Outposters. It is the weekend, and it’s boring; we need a great debate. You have sat on the sofa too long, take to the soapbox and join us.

For this weekend’s great debate, we’re going to talk about something we have all had: mothers. It’s Mother’s Day in the UK. Millions of people, all over the UK, are paying too much for a meal to show love to their mums, or moms for the US.

Mother figures (yes, figures, not what you thought I was going to say) have been in movies since the invention of the moving image. From Elastigirl in The Incredibles to Morticia Addams in The Addams Family to Ripley in Aliens (although, yes, I know she left her daughter on Earth and she died, but then she was a mother figure to Newt).

If you had to live in a movie or TV show, and you had to have a movie or TV mother, who would be best? Mrs Cunningham, from Happy Days, baking you cakes and being all nice? Or Sarah Connor from Terminator 2, being all badass and preparing you for the future?

So, today’s great debate question is:

Who would you want as your movie or TV mother?

Remember, whoever you choose, you have them for life and have to do everything they say. Would you rather have Kate McCallister from Home Alone or Norma Bates from Psycho?

Join the great date and tell us what you think?
