Filmmaker Michael Sarnoski (“Pig,” “A Quiet Place: Day One”) is reportedly under consideration to direct the “Alien: Romulus” sequel reports Nexus Point News.

It was revealed in September last year that the first film’s writer and director, Fede Álvarez, would not be returning to direct the follow-up.

He and co-writer Rodo Sayagues did pen the script for the film, with that script finished that month, and Álvarez will be back as a producer.

The hunt was on for a director, and now it appears they have found a ‘preferred candidate’ according to the outlet.

Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson are expected to return for the new film, which will take place after the events of ‘Romulus’. That film was set in 2142 – 20 years after the original “Alien” and 37 years before those of “Aliens”.

Sarnoski’s next film is the Hugh Jackman-led “The Death of Robin Hood” set to open later this year. He remains attached as director of the film adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s “Death Stranding” game franchise.
