For many years now, even before Sony PlayStation began porting some of its titles to PC starting with “Horizon: Zero Dawn,” one complaint from PC users that has come up time and again has been “where is ‘Bloodborne’?”.
The FromSoftware title is still regarded as one of the best (if not the best) works to ever come from the “Dark Souls” and “Elden Ring” developer, and many long and angry ‘Master Race’ rants have been directed at Sony for not remaking and/or porting it.
Sony did remake FromSoftware’s “Demon’s Souls,” a prior PS3 exclusive, as one of its PS5 launch titles, with the recently shuttered Bluepoint Games being the ones behind that. That launched to very good reviews, though some didn’t like the change of art style, which was markedly different at points.
Now Bloomberg has done a piece on the closure of Bluepoint Games and claims that Bluepoint actually pitched “Bloodborne” remake in early 2025 – and Sony seemingly approved it.
However, the original developer did not: “the studio [Bluepoint] was told that the numbers made sense but FromSoftware didn’t want it to happen, according to people familiar with the process.”
According to PC Gamer, this matches with comments last year from former PlayStation exec Shuhei Yoshida during an appearance on the Kinda Funny Gamescast, where he speculated FromSoftware was the possible hold-up.
They theorise that FromSoftware President Hidetaka Miyazaki is insistent on doing it himself, and so the decision to move forward on one depends on him. While Sony owns the rights to the IP, it’s thought that they would likely acquiesce to Miyazaki’s wishes.
In any case, it seems like the chances of a “Bloodborne” remake are next to none in the near future.
