
Hulu has picked up “Deano,” a full eight-episode, half-hour series version of the popular web show “Childish Deano,” and will distribute the series worldwide.
Creators Dean Thomas and David Ferrier will serve as writers on the series with Thomas providing the voice of Deano.
Joining them will be none other than Joe Brumm, the creator of Australian animated series turned global sensation “Bluey,” who will executive produce the project – his first adult animated series.
The series follows Deano, “a spirited cheeky charmer of a boy, whose tough exterior coats a real heart of gold”. He grows up in a ruthlessly tough neighborhood in a house that should be condemned, but embraces everyone equally – from the local teenage dropouts to the town police chief.
Key to the series is his friendship with Kit, his timid best mate from the wealthy side of town who is drawn to his friend’s energy and fearless worldview. Together, this pair of optimists
Hooligan Animation will produce the show at its studios in Brisbane with support from the Australian government’s Producer Offset and a Queensland state PDV grant.
Greg Basser, Tracey Robertson, Ross Shuman, Nathan Mayfield, Tracey Vieira and Adam Bailey will also executive produce for Hooligan, BBC Studios and 20th Television Animation.
The show will go out via Hulu in the US, BBC in the UK and Disney+ internationally.
