Lucasfilm and Disney have premiered the full trailer for Jon Favreaus’ new “Star Wars” film “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” the clip following on from the teaser last year and a Super Bowl spot that proved divisive.
The project was initially conceived as a fourth season until the strikes in 2023 led to the season being retooled as this film. A new version of the Razor Crest ship will appear in the film, the first big screen outing for “Star Wars” since 2019.
There’s still no synopsis for the film, but the trailer sees The Mandalorian in search of a Hutt, while remnants of the Empire are plotting. Several familiar faces from the animated series also appear.
Filmed throughout the last third of 2024 in California, the film sees Pedro Pascal reprising his role as Din Djarin and is joined by Sigourney Weaver as Ward, veteran pilot for the Rebel Alliance and now colonel who leads the New Republic’s Adelphi Rangers.
Also starring are Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, the son of the crime lord Jabba the Hutt, and Jonny Coyne as a warlord controlling some of the remnants of the Empire.
“The Mandalorian & Grogu” which is at least partly shot for IMAX, hits cinemas on May 22nd.
