Filming gets underway in the UK in April on Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II” and now its working title has been revealed – “Vengeance 2”.

Hollywood North Buzz reported the news, the reveal not that surprising considering the first film was shot under the title “Vengeance”.

Mattson Tomlin, who is co-writing the film with Reeves, popped up on X today just as that news came out, and responded to a fan’s question about the film, saying:

“We worked exceptionally hard to tell a story worthy of the character. Something that feels new and dangerous. The bar couldn’t be higher. Looking forward to people seeing it and being able to talk about it at length. Can’t begin to describe what this film means to me… We did our actual, literal, pushed beyond the limit best.”

The cast sees the additions of Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent and Scarlett Johansson as his wife Gilda Dent along with returnees Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon.

Plot specifics remain under wraps. The news comes as this weekend marked the sixth anniversary of the first reveal of Robert Pattinson as Batman back in February 2020.

Filming on the sequel will take place primarily out of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden as well as Liverpool and Glasgow, with the film opening in cinemas on October 1st 2027.
