It’s not surprising news, but now it’s official – Netflix has cancelled the 2024 anime series “Terminator Zero” after one season.

Production IG (“Ghost in the Shell”) handled the eight-episode series which unfolded over two time periods – 1997, when Skynet first goes online, and 2022, when the war has been raging for decades.

The title pulled in some of the best reviews for a “Terminator” work since James Cameron’s original films and “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” TV series, but its fate remained unclear as it was known the show didn’t do good audience numbers.

Now, creator Mattson Tomlin has taken to X to confirm the show is dead:

“It was cancelled. The critical and audience reception to it was tremendous, but at the end of the day not nearly enough people watched it. I would’ve loved to deliver on the Future War I had planned in season’s 2 and 3, but I’m also very happy with how it feels contained as is.”

The English-dubbed cast of the series included Timothy Olyphant as The Terminator, Rosario Dawson as Kokoro, André Holland as Malcolm Lee, Sonoya Mizuno as Eiko, and Ann Dowd as The Prophet.
