In what should prove a bit of a stretch for his talents, Jason Statham has been cast as global action superstar Jason Statham in the upcoming big-budget action comedy “Jason Statham Stole My Bike”.

Currently being shopped around at the European Film Market in Berlin, the film is set to be direted by “Bullet Train” and “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch who previously worked with Statham on “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw”.

Story details are under wraps, though it sounds like a meta-comedy angle will be used, based on the title. Alison Flierl (“BoJack Horseman,” “School of Rock”) penned the script.

A number of major action set pieces are planned for the project which is being conceived as a PG-13 project with a budget of over $80 million.

Black Bear has committed to a wide domestic release and is handling international sales. Interest is said to be quite high with Amazon circling rights in multiple territories.

Husband and wife duo Leitch and wife Kelly McCormick are producing through their 87 North banner. Statham, John Friedberg, Meredith Berg and Ethan Erwin also produce.

Statham is currently filming Guy Ritchie’s “Viva La Madness” in London and recently completed “The Beekeeper” sequel due out next year. His most recent film on screen was “Shelter” with “Mutiny” on the way later in 2026.
