There are things in this world that are not made for us. These days, it seems like more and more things fit into this category. Sometimes, though, just sometimes, there are things that are really not made for us that we can still enjoy immensely, like the Minions.

Tik-Tok trends may pass us by. Any foray into social media may leave our teeth itching with rage. Attempts to communicate with our own children may break down from the moment they first refer to us as “Bruh!”… but the Minions always seem capable of raising a sensible chuckle.

The breakout stars, now MVPs, of the Despicable Me adventures now have their third solo movie in the form of Minions & Monsters.

Universal Pictures and Illumination have premiered the first official trailer, which shows the Minions working in Hollywood, and accidentally unleashing monsters from another dimension into the world. Featuring a guest appearance from Cthulhu.

Oscar nominee Pierre Coffin returns as director, and provides the voices. Brian Lynch (Minions, The Secret Life of Pets) co-wrote the script.

The movie was set for June 2027, but given Universal’s confidence in the brand, they moved it forward by a year.

Minions & Monsters will open in cinemas on July 1st, and many of us are now working out if our kids are too old to be used as an excuse to go and see it.
